3:10 to Yuma - Movie Review

Westerns! Who doesn't like westerns?

The plot goes like this; Dan Evans (Bale) is a rancher who volunteers to help escort the outlaw Ben Wade (Crowe) to make up for his debts (and man, he's got some). Wade is being escorted to the nearby train station where he'll be put on the train to Yuma Prison that leaves at
3:10pm (hence the title).

Wade is basically 'Han Solo who shoots first', he will murder the whole village in cold blood and you'd still like him… Most of his charm comes from the great(!) performance by Crowe, he is perfect for this type of role.

Dan Evans on the other hand is rather generic character who could be played by pretty much anyone. Bale gives a solid performance, it's not his best, but he gets the job done (actually, Tom Cruise was considered for this role, which makes me appreciate Bale's performance even more).

To sum it all up, 3:10 is a great western. Characters development, action, drama… you've got it all.

If you consider yourself a fan of the genre - it's a must see for you. Best western since "The Good, The Bad
and The Ugly"? maybe...
